40 Minutes Without Knowing, 15 With — Incheon Expands Auto-Immigration Gates to 18 Countries

· Korea Tourism Times Editorial Desk

South Korea's Ministry of Justice has expanded eligibility for Incheon Airport's automated immigration gates from 4 countries (Germany, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao) to 18. The newly added passport holders are from the UK, France, Italy, Finland, Portugal, Czechia, the Netherlands, Hungary, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Japan, Singapore, and the UAE. The ministry expects the change to let about 40% of all foreign arrivals skip the staffed immigration line entirely. Pre-registration is now easier too: what used to be a single desk on the west side of Terminal 1's arrival hall has grown to four locations — Terminal 1 east and west, and Terminal 2's east and west arrival halls. Travelers holding a passport from one of the 18 countries should look for the automated-gate signage before joining the regular queue. By Kim Youn Young, Korea Tourism Times
