The 24th Myeongji Market Jeoneo (gizzard shad) Festival in Busan's Gangseo District wraps up today, Sept. 10. Running since Sept. 8, the festival featured free jeoneo tastings, discounted sales and a fish-slicing contest — free to enter, with food purchased individually. Today is the last chance to try autumn jeoneo at festival prices.

If your schedule allows a bit more time, next week is worth planning around too. From Sept. 16 to 20, Seoul City, together with the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, will offer up to 30% Onnuri gift certificate refunds at 61 traditional seafood and farm markets across the city — stacking with a separate produce discount (up to 40%, running Sept. 3-23) for even bigger savings. Traditional Chuseok activities like songpyeon-making will run alongside the discounts.
