Bottom line: If you need to move between Incheon Airport's Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 — for a connection, or to meet someone landing at the other terminal — take the free shuttle bus. It runs roughly every 10 minutes between the two boarding points (Terminal 1, 3rd floor, central exit 8, and Terminal 2, 3rd floor, central area between exits 4 and 5). For a faster option, the AREX airport railroad connects the terminals in 6 minutes for 1,050 won.

If you didn't know: the two terminals are about 15km apart. Running that distance through Incheon's official taxi fare table (4,800 won base fare for the first 1.6km, then 100 won per 135m) works out to roughly 14,700 won in distance charges alone — an estimate that excludes time-based fares, late-night surcharges and tolls. Not knowing the free shuttle exists means paying that for nothing, and once the shuttle stops running at 11pm, a taxi is the only option left.

At a glance

free shuttle bus runs 05:00-23:00, about every 10 minutes (Terminal 1, 3F central exit 8 ↔ Terminal 2, 3F central area between exits 4-5) · AREX airport railroad between terminals costs 1,050 won and takes 6 minutes · distance between terminals is about 15km. Incheon Airport splits across two terminals, so check which one your airline uses before you plan anything. Korean Air, Delta and Air France, among others, use Terminal 2; nearly every other airline, domestic and international, uses Terminal 1. If the terminal you land at differs from the one you need for departure or a connection, you'll need to move between them — and because airport signage often just says "shuttle bus" without saying it's free, plenty of travelers head straight for the taxi stand instead.

The free shuttle boards at a fixed stop on the 3rd floor, central area, of each terminal. If you're carrying heavy luggage and would rather avoid the hassle of transferring onto AREX, the shuttle is the easier call; if you're traveling light and pressed for time, the train is faster. One thing to plan around: the shuttle stops running at 11pm, so if you're landing late at night or catching an early-morning flight, budget for a taxi fare just in case.
