Jajangmyeon Prices in Seoul 2026: Average Cost Up 3% to 7,731 Won This Year

Jajangmyeon — noodles in black bean sauce with onions and pork — has long been the go-to dish of Korean-Chinese cuisine: cheap and fast. But monthly dining-cost data from the Korea Consumer Agency shows that "cheap" is slowly fading. In April this year, a bowl of jajangmyeon in Seoul averaged 7,731 won, up 3.08% from 7,500 won a year earlier.
At a glance: Seoul average price of jajangmyeon in April 2026 was 7,731 won (up 3.08% year-on-year) · over the same period, naengmyeon cold noodles reached 12,615 won (+4.13%), 200g of grilled pork belly hit 21,321 won (+4.27%), samgyetang chicken soup reached 18,154 won (+3.74%), and gimbap rolls reached 3,800 won (+4.89%) · the data comes from the Korea Consumer Agency's monthly "Price Check" (Chamgagyeok) survey.
Among the representative Seoul dishes the agency tracks, jajangmyeon is still among the cheapest. It costs roughly half as much as 200 grams of grilled pork belly (in the 20,000-won range) or samgyetang (around 18,000 won), and it's cheaper than naengmyeon too. Still, the upward trend is shared across the board — all eight dishes surveyed cost more than a year ago, and some rose by double-digit percentages.
As a practical rule of thumb for travelers: if a bowl of jajangmyeon at a Chinese restaurant costs much more than 8,000 won, it's likely either tourist-area pricing or a larger/premium version of the dish. In high-traffic areas like Myeongdong or Hongdae, some restaurants charge more than the survey average for the same dish, so it helps to glance at the menu board posted near the entrance before sitting down.
Jajangmyeon is typically a solo-friendly dish, but when two or more people eat together, it's common to add sweet-and-sour pork or jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) to share. In that case, per-person spending ends up higher than the price of a single bowl, so when budgeting, it's more realistic to plan for the possibility of ordering a combo rather than just one dish.
