Bottom line: To store luggage before check-in or after check-out, use T-Luggage, the staffed storage-and-delivery counters run by Seoul Metro. Counters are at Seoul Station, Myeongdong Station, Hongik University Station and Gimpo Airport Station, and same-day delivery between Incheon International Airport's Hanjin counters (Terminal 1 and 2) and these downtown stations is also available. A large suitcase (23-27 inches) starts at 6,000 won for 4 hours on weekdays, and airport-to-downtown delivery starts at 20,000 won.

If you didn't know: travelers who don't know about this service end up waiting 2-3 hours with two suitcases in a hotel lobby or cafe until check-in time (usually 3-4 p.m.), or drag a 23-inch suitcase around Myeongdong and give up on shopping or eating out. Leaving one large suitcase at the T-Luggage counter inside Myeongdong Station's exits 1, 9 or 10 costs 6,000 won for the first 4 hours on a weekday, plus 1,000 won per extra hour. Not knowing where to stash a bag quietly eats into a meaningful chunk of the day before a hotel check-in.

At a glance: Locations are Seoul Station (between exits 1 and 2, basement level), Myeongdong Station (inside exits 1, 9 and 10), Hongik University Station (inside the basement-level corridor to the airport railroad, Line 2), Gimpo Airport Station (basement level, toward the international terminal, Line 5), Incheon Airport Terminal 1 (Hanjin counter opposite check-in counter B, 3rd floor general area) and Terminal 2 (Hanjin counter opposite check-in counter H, 3rd floor general area). Storage fees run on a 4-hour base (same 1,000-won hourly extra for every size): small (up to 20 inches) 3,000 won weekday / 4,000 won weekend; medium (20-23 inches) 4,000 won / 6,000 won; large (23-27 inches) 6,000 won / 9,000 won; extra-large (27 inches and up) 9,000 won / 13,000 won. Delivery fees are 17,000-31,000 won station-to-station (25,000-45,000 won on weekends) and 20,000-31,000 won station-to-Incheon-T2 (29,000-45,000 won on weekends). Counters are open 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily (pickup is listed as 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.); call center 02-6110-2977, emergency line 1670-4302, Airport Railroad inquiries 1599-7788.

The service is also listed on the official website of Incheon International Airport Corporation (airport.kr). The corporation describes T-Luggage, same-day delivery between subway stations and the airport, alongside T-Locker, the stations' unstaffed locker banks, and names the staffed T-Luggage counters at Seoul Station, Hongik University Station, Myeongdong Station, Gimpo Airport Station and the Hanjin counters at Incheon Airport Terminals 1 and 2.

The fee table is published on the service's own booking site (tluggage.co.kr). Storage fees vary by suitcase size and by weekday versus weekend, while the extra hourly charge is a flat 1,000 won regardless of size. Delivery splits into station-to-station ("living logistics delivery") and station-to-Incheon-Terminal-2 ("airport delivery"); small and medium bags share one price tier, and the large and extra-large tiers each cost more as the bag gets bigger.

Drop-off and pickup must happen in person at a counter, and the service only works at the Seoul subway stations (Lines 1 through 9) that have a large-size locker bank installed. Direct delivery between two unstaffed lockers isn't offered yet, so either the origin or the destination must be a staffed T-Luggage counter. Cancellation policy is also worth checking before booking: no refund for same-day or one-day-ahead cancellations, 50% back for cancellations 1-3 days ahead, and a full refund more than 3 days ahead.

Suitcase sizes are listed in inches (20, 23 and 27 inches). Travelers who normally judge bag size in centimeters can convert roughly: 20 inches is about 51 cm, 23 inches about 58 cm, and 27 inches about 69 cm. Getting the conversion wrong and trying to squeeze a bag into a smaller slot can mean a staff member moves it — and the price — up to the next size.
