Things to do in Jeju 2026: 10 Spots by Bus, with Prices and Booking Tips

Bottom line: On a first three-day trip you cannot realistically cover all 10 spots below without a rental car — relying only on buses and the ferry, 5 to 6 are doable. Day 1 should link the east-coast loop — Seongsan Ilchulbong, Udo (by ferry), Seopjikoji and a short stretch of Olle Trail 1 — Day 2 can split Manjanggul Cave and Hyeopjae Beach to limit backtracking, and Day 3, built around your departure time, can add a meal at Dongmun Market and the Nohyeong black-pork street, with either the Hallasan shelter route or Jungmun Saekdal Beach as a single bonus if time allows, given how much bus-transfer time each leg eats up.
If you didn't know: Reaching Hallasan's Baekrokdam summit on either the Seongpanak or Gwaneumsa trail requires an advance reservation at visithalla.jeju.go.kr, capped at 1,000 hikers a day on Seongpanak and 500 on Gwaneumsa; booking opens at 9 a.m. on the first business day of the month before your visit, and popular dates fill within minutes. Since May 2025 you can hike without a reservation as far as the Jindallaebat shelter (7.3km) or Samgakbong shelter (6km), but going beyond that without one is simply blocked at the checkpoint. The Udo ferry from Seongsan Port has no online seat booking at all — you fill out a boarding declaration and buy a ticket on the spot — and sailings are routinely cancelled in bad weather, which can wipe out your whole Udo day if you haven't checked ahead by phone. Seongsan Ilchulbong itself is closed on the first Monday of every month (the next day if that Monday is a holiday), so skipping that check can mean arriving to a locked gate.
At a glance: Seongsan Ilchulbong's paid route costs 5,000 won for adults and 2,500 won for youth, closed the first Monday of each month. The Udo ferry from Seongsan Port Passenger Terminal takes about 15 minutes each way on a 30-minute schedule; round-trip adult fares vary slightly by source (roughly low 10,000-won range), so confirm on site (Seongsan office 064-782-5671, Udo office 064-783-0448). Manjanggul Cave is open 09:00-18:00 (last entry 17:10), closed the first Wednesday of the month, adult admission 4,000 won, youth 2,000 won. Hallasan's free reservation system is at visithalla.jeju.go.kr, with a 'Foreigner' option for overseas visitors. Hyeopjae Beach is a roughly 1-hour-2-minute ride on Bus 102 from Gate 4 at Jeju Airport, and admission is free. Jeju's city buses have charged a flat 1,200-won fare with free transfers since the 2017 overhaul, while express buses start at 2,000 won for the first 20km.
Seongsan Ilchulbong's paid route is 5,000 won for adults and 2,500 won for youth, soldiers and children, with a free walking route also available. From the airport, take a trunk or express bus to Seongsan Transfer Center and transfer from there; since August 2026, the autonomous tourist shuttle 'Ilchulbong GO' has also run from nearby lodging areas to the entrance at the same fare as a regular city bus. It's short enough to fit into half a day and needs no advance ticket, but check the first-Monday closure and avoid the sunrise crush. Udo is reached by ferry from Seongsan Port Passenger Terminal, about 15 minutes each way on 30-minute departures. There's no online booking — you complete a boarding form and buy a ticket at the terminal — and sailings can be cancelled on short notice in bad weather, so call ahead before you go. Seopjikoji's 1.2km coastal walking path is free and open with no booking needed, doable round-trip in about an hour, though the small parking lot gets crowded in peak season, so go early or arrive by bus. Olle Trail Course 1 is a free walking route starting in Siheung-ri and running toward Seongsan, Seopjikoji and Gwangchigi Beach; walking the whole course takes a long day, but the short Seongsan-area stretch alone can be done in an hour or two. Manjanggul Cave costs 4,000 won for adults and 2,000 won for youth and children, runs 09:00-18:00 (last entry 17:10), is closed the first Wednesday of each month, needs no reservation for same-day entry, and stays a cool 14°C inside, so bring a layer.
Hallasan itself has no entrance fee, but reaching the Baekrokdam summit on either the Seongpanak (9.6km) or Gwaneumsa (8.7km) trail requires booking ahead at visithalla.jeju.go.kr, where overseas visitors can apply through the 'Foreigner' tab. Since May 2025, you can hike without a reservation as far as the Jindallaebat shelter (7.3km) or Samgakbong shelter (6km); summit slots open at 9 a.m. on the first business day of the previous month and go fast. Hyeopjae Beach is free to enter and roughly a 1-hour-2-minute ride on Bus 102 from Gate 4 at Jeju Airport to the Hyeopjae Neobeunbat stop; avoid the midday summer crowd by going in the morning or late afternoon. Jungmun Saekdal Beach is also free to enter, with free parking except in peak season (July-August, 3,000 won), and needs no booking at any time. Dongmun Market (Maeil Olle Market), in the city center near the airport, keeps the day market open 08:00-21:00 and the night market 18:00-24:00, with no entry fee or reservation required — arrive before the 19:00-21:00 night-market rush if you want it quieter. The Nohyeong black-pork street near the airport has plenty of walk-in restaurants, but for the popular spots or to dodge the 7-9 p.m. dinner rush, book ahead through platforms like Naver or Catchtable.
If you can't book it yourself, see "We'll Book It For You" (#book) at the top of this site.
