Bottom line: If you hold a passport from China, Vietnam, the Philippines, Indonesia, India, or Cambodia and apply for a Korean group visa through a travel agency with three or more people, the $15 (about 22,500 won) group visa application fee is waived through December 31, 2026. This is not visa-free entry — you still need the visa itself, only its fee is waived. Solo independent travelers (FIT) are not covered.

If you didn't know: Mistaking this for visa-free travel and showing up at the airport without a visa can get you denied boarding entirely. On the other hand, if you book a package tour without knowing your nationality qualifies, you may end up paying an extra $15 (about 22,500 won) per person in visa fees the agency tacks on anyway. For a family of four, that gap can reach nearly 90,000 won.

Eligible countries China, Vietnam, the Philippines, Indonesia, India, Cambodia · Waiver group visa application fee, $15 (about 22,500 won) per person · Period through December 31, 2026 · Condition group visa application through a travel agency with 3 or more travelers.

The Ministry of Justice says the extension follows up on the 11th Expanded National Tourism Strategy Meeting. In 2025, about 790,000 foreign nationals entered Korea on group visas, up nearly 39 percent from roughly 570,000 the year before, while the overstay/absconding rate fell to 0.07 percent from 0.19 percent. The ministry itself cautions that the fee waiver alone can't explain the rise in visitors — so don't read this as "travel to Korea just got cheaper across the board." It's a fee discount that applies only to people traveling in a group arrangement.

To actually benefit, ask your travel agency up front whether your group visa qualifies for the waiver, and check that the quote doesn't still include a visa fee line item. If you're planning an independent trip, this waiver doesn't apply to you — prepare for the standard visa application process and fee as usual.
