Incheon Airport Sells Chuseok Souvenirs at 10% Off Through Sept. 27

A special Chuseok exhibition called "Hangawi, a Gift of Fortune" is running through September 27 at four Korean Traditional Culture Centers inside Incheon International Airport's Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. If you have time to kill during a layover or are waiting for an early-morning flight, you can browse and buy Korean traditional-craft souvenirs, including keyrings shaped like songpyeon, the half-moon rice cake, without ever leaving the airport.

Organized by the Korea Heritage Agency together with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Incheon International Airport Corporation, the exhibition sells songpyeon-shaped keyrings, colorful traditional "saekdong" jegi (a knucklebone-style toss game) sets, and beaded bracelets styled after the 12 zodiac animals of the Korean lunar calendar, with some items discounted 10 percent. Buyers also receive a small gift, such as an envelope printed with a traditional folk painting or an airport-exclusive bojagi (a traditional Korean wrapping cloth). On September 23 and 24, the airport also held a hands-on event on the east side of Terminal 2's Node Garden where visitors could try traditional games such as jegichagi (a shuttlecock-kicking game) and yutnori (a traditional board game) and win small prizes for succeeding.
