Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) 2026: Dates, Free Zones, and How to Get There

At BIFF Village outside the Busan Cinema Center in Haeundae on October 7, crowds gathered even without movie tickets in hand. The outdoor plaza's stage and photo zones are free to enter, letting visitors who couldn't score a screening ticket still soak up the festival atmosphere. The 31st Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) opened the day before, on October 6, and runs for ten days through October 15.
At a glance: Dates October 6 (Tue)–15 (Thu), 2026 · Venue Busan Cinema Center area in Haeundae, Busan (including Centum City and BIFF Square in Nampo-dong) · Getting there Subway Line 2, Centum City Station, about a 10–14 minute walk · Admission BIFF Village and BIFF Square are free; screening tickets start at 10,000 won per film (2025 pricing), with opening and closing ceremony tickets at 30,000 won · Tickets official website biff.kr.
This year's BIFF features 247 official selections from 59 countries. Seeing a film in a theater requires booking in advance on the official website, and popular titles often sell out the moment sales open, making same-day tickets hard to come by for visiting tourists. But there's plenty to enjoy without one. Every evening, the outdoor stage in front of the Busan Cinema Center hosts performances and events, and in the old downtown area of Nampo-dong, BIFF Square has a walkable street lined with handprints from past award-winning directors and actors.
Staying near Centum City or Haeundae puts the Busan Cinema Center about ten minutes away by subway. Even without a screening ticket, a half-day spent at BIFF Village and BIFF Square costs nothing beyond transportation. For high-demand events like the opening and closing ceremonies, though, general seats are limited, so it's worth checking the official website's ticketing schedule ahead of time.
