Bottom line: The Busan Fireworks Festival on Saturday, November 7 is a doable day trip by subway, but if you don't book a hotel room for that night early, prices can jump to several times the normal rate. From Seoul, a round-trip KTX day trip is possible but not recommended because of heavy crowds; within Busan, you can walk to the show from Gwangan or Geumnyeonsan stations on subway Line 2.

If you didn't know: last year, hotel rooms near Gwangalli for festival night were reported selling for up to five times the normal rate, around 1.83 million won a night (this year's prices aren't confirmed yet, so treat it as last year's example only). Fail to book a room for that night and you're stuck scrambling for late-night transport, losing both money and time. Paid seating (100,000 won for R-seats, 70,000 won for S-seats) also sells out, and once it does, there's no buying your way into those spots.

The Busan Fireworks Festival, held around Gwangalli Beach, Igidae and Dongbaekseom, is Busan's signature autumn fireworks event, running for one day this year on Saturday, November 7. Viewing itself is free, with the beach and surrounding public areas open to everyone, but the best-view spots are sold separately as paid seating. According to the City of Busan, paid seats cost 100,000 won for R-seats and 70,000 won for S-seats, bookable through NOL Ticket or the Busan Bank mobile banking app, with S-seats also available over the counter at Busan Bank branches. This year introduces a 10% discount for Busan residents for the first time, with a cap of 4 tickets per person. Regular sales opened at 2pm on September 4 and close at 5pm on November 6. On festival day, roads around Gwangalli are fully closed to traffic, so the most reliable way in is on foot from Gwangan or Geumnyeonsan stations on subway Line 2. For a day trip from Seoul, you'd need to go round-trip by KTX; a schedule check shows the last Busan-to-Seoul train departs Busan Station at 10:10pm, arriving Seoul Station at 12:42am, for about 48,800 won one-way. Festival night, however, brings heavy crowds to the station and seats sell out fast, so booking as soon as your travel date is set is the safer move. With that many visitors in town, budget rooms for that specific night are often fully booked weeks in advance. Basis: Dates, venue, seat prices and booking methods were checked on the City of Busan (busan.go.kr) press release page and the official Busan Fireworks Festival website (busanfireworks.com) on 2026-10-31; the last KTX departure time was checked on a Korail train schedule lookup page on the same day.
