Jin Air Launches Direct Incheon-Kobe Route, Skipping Osaka
Travelers in Japan's Kansai region who wanted to fly straight to Incheon from Kobe, without detouring through Osaka, now have a new option. On August 7, Jin Air launched a new daily direct route between Incheon and Kobe.
Operated with a 189-seat Boeing 737, the route departs Incheon at 1:30 p.m. and arrives in Kobe at 3:30 p.m.; the return flight leaves Kobe at 4:30 p.m. and lands in Incheon at 6:30 p.m., with a flight time of about two hours.
Previously, travelers moving between the Kobe/Osaka area and Korea often had to connect through Kansai International Airport in Osaka — this new route lets them fly directly from Kobe to Incheon instead.
Kobe is home to attractions somewhat removed from Osaka, such as the Kitano Ijinkan foreign residence district and Arima Onsen, which previously meant an extra train or bus transfer from Kansai International Airport. With this direct route, travelers can now build an itinerary centered on Kobe itself without that extra step.
Tickets can be booked through Jin Air's website and major online travel agencies, and as a newly launched route, seats tend to be relatively easier to find in the early going.
Since it's a single daily flight, options for rebooking are more limited in case of a schedule change or cancellation — so it's wise not to cut connecting flights or hotel check-in times too close. Every fare includes 15kg of free checked baggage, a practical benefit for travelers whose luggage grows with Korean shopping hauls, or for golf travelers carrying extra gear.
